I received several balls of yarn for Christmas including 2 balls each of DK and Aran weight pure wool. It’s not enough to do much with and I thought I have a go at some boot cuffs to use some of it up. After looking at a number of patterns I ending up just working something out, so boring ribbed cuffs it is.
Yarn: Countrywide Yarn Co Ltd Aran Isle in 4 (Purple) ~ 50g. Crucci 8 Ply DK in 30 (Cream) ~ 50g
Needles: 5mm dpns
Notes: They are about 6″ long, worked until about half the yarn was used. Have not measured gauge. Used a little less than 50g of the DK yarn but not enough left to use for anything else – same needles for both yarns and they are visibly the same thickness.
Using the cable cast on, cast on 48 stitches. Knit one row splitting the stitches over your needles for working in the round as you go. Join in the round and work 2×2 rib (K2,P2) around for 6″ (in my case 34 rows), desired length or until half your yarn is used up. Cast off loosely – I used Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off (JSBBO) but only process every second stitch. Weave in ends and knit the other one.
