I mentioned that I’d bought yarn for two sweaters for Wee Man for this winter/next year. I’ve been quietly working on the first one over the last few weeks and after being disrupted by illness this week finished it during naptime today. It’s a 12-18 month size in a DK weight superwash wool, so should be useful this winter.
The pattern comes from Knitting Gifts for Baby by Mel Clark which is the book I knitted Wee Man’s ‘Papoose’ from. It was an easy knit once I had the horseshoe pattern memorised (it’s an 8 line repeat) with the body worked in the round up to the armholes and the then back and forth on the front and back separately. The shoulders overlap in an envelope style so it should be easy to get on and off. The sleeves are also worked in the round from the cuff to the armhole and then back and forth for the shaped sleeve cap. There’s only the sleeves to sew in but there were way more ends than I’d anticipated.
Pattern: Horseshoe Pullover
Designer: Mel Clark
Knitted for: Squishy
Wool used (colourway): Drops Merino Extra Fine (denim) ~200g
Needle: 4.0mm and 3.75mm
Any problems/changes: 7 repeats to the armhole, 3,6 on the front and 4,2 on the back.
