In my avoidance of making things for me the kids are benefiting. It’s not the right weather for woollies at all but I’ve been having a think about what they’ll need in the next year and getting started on those (as well as making some sewing plans for size 3! stuff for Hobbit). I made the Flax Sweater by tincanknits for Hobbit and discovered at the end that I had more than enough yarn left to make the Barley Hat too. Both patterns are from the Simple Collection which was designed to be a set of free patterns covering the basics of knitting. They’ve all got garter stitch detail and have sizes from baby/child to adult men. I made the size 2-4yr sweater and the child size hat – apparently Hobbit has a big head. She picked the yarn (well the colour anyway) after ascertaining that I was getting yarn for a ‘cardy’ for her (she’s convinced all outwear are cardies). They were both an easy fast knit and I’d definitely use the patterns in this collection again.
Knitted for: Hobbit
Wool used (colourway): Garnstudio Drops Alaska (purple mix) ~ 219g for sweater, 65g for hat
Needle: 5mm and 3.75mm
