Things and stuff…

Things have been a little busy around here lately. We’ve been sick, the baby’s growing teeth (she’s working on number 4 at the moment) and my husbands been away several times for work. The teeth growing has been messing with naps and so I haven’t had that much time to do anything crafty. I’ve also been working on Christmas presents which are staying under wraps for now.
I have found the time to make some winter gear for the hobbit. She’s got sweaters to wear – the ones her grandmothers’ made her before she was born both fit now and are nice and thick for winter – but I never thought about keeping her hands warm and she’s standing and cruising and so while she’s not doing this much outside she still needs a extra layer on her feet sometimes. I’ve made her a pair of mittens, a pair of booties and a matching hat with earflaps.

Pattern: BABEE CHULLO (Baby Earflap Hat)
Designer: Bobbi Padgett

Knitted for: Hobbit
Wool used: Patons Fairytale Dreamtime DK
Any problems with pattern: No
Any modification made: Shortened the height of the hat as it was going to be too tall. Knitted size larger because my gauge was off.

Pattern: Stay-Put Baby Mitts
Designer: Jillian Neary
Knitted for: Hobbit
Wool used: Patons Fairytale Dreamtime DK
Any problems with pattern: No
Any modification made: Left off the ties – the seem to stay on fine.

Pattern: Crochet wrap around button baby boots- girls and boys
Designer: Ashlee Prisbrey
Knitted for: Hobbit
Wool used: Patons Fairytale Dreamtime DK
Any problems with pattern: Across the top of the arch is tight and I’d probably modify this next time.
Any modification made: Instead of cutting the yarn and reattaching slip stitch across to attachment point.

She doesn’t much like wearing the mitts (they don’t let her pick things up easily) but they do stay on. I’m hoping to make another slightly bigger pair of booties too so she has something to wear when she grows more.
